I'm not sure why but whenever I tried to have something off of the computer to show up in the HTML that I make it never shows up. It works just fine when I take stuff off of the internet to put into it though.

It's because you aren't telling it the right place to find it. Put the image/video, whatever into your project folder. Then give it the path to follow to find it. Like maybe something like src="images/picture.jpg" . It is going to start in the directory your current file is in, the html file you are writing the link in.
