I finally figured out how to make the directories and everything, but when I put in git add, it said fatal: not git directory

The first time you are going to push a project online, you have to initialize it. IT's not a git repository, so you skipped the git init step. Get into howTo and type git init . Then it will be set up for you to add. Once it gives you an error. There's no reason to continue with the steps. Stop and fix it before you move forward.
